Retro Blood 93: Dario Argentos Opera
Welcome back to the Retro Blood as we counite our theme of Italian Blood month here in the month of July. Up next if you first person Camera views, a girl getting tied up multiple times a course play and a serial killer mother this is the review for you because Retro Blood is talking all about Dario Argentos “Opera” AKA “Terror at the Opera”.
Join James and J.A Alison as we get a seat at the opera house and give the singer a negative 5 stars!
We talk first about some quick thoughts on Oprea and if Alison has seen an Opera before.
Then we get into our weekly History Segment where we talk about what was going on in Pro Wrestling and Metal around the movie release date December 19, 1987.
In Pro Wrestling we talk about the second ever WWF Slammy Awards. We go through all the winners and James Kline try to guess all the Winners.
In Metal we talk about the band “Bulldozer” and their Album “Nine”. We talk this Italian thrash band and the cover of the Album and how they sound. We also talked about the opera soundtrack.
Then we get into Who book this Shit!!
We talked about Dario Argento and how he came up with the idea of Opera from a failed play of Macbeth he tried to make.
We talked about The Macbeth play curse. (Our podcast becomes cursed also after we brought this up with Mic problems and echos throughout the review).
We talk about the Character Marco being written like Dario himself.
We talked about how the pins under the eye's idea came to be.
We talk about the recasting of the original Opera singer in this movie.
We talked about Daria Nicolodi Coming back to Darios film and we explained the reason why.
We talked about Michele Soavi role in “Opera”.
We talk the VHS blockbuster exclusive Terror at the Opera and that movie cutting out the last scene in Germany.
Then we get into the full review of “Opera” with the Black glove returning. Betty becoming famous super quick and her not being good at sex. FIRST PERSON VIEWS and pin in the eyes!! Plot twist with fan boy cops. Marco the play director and his women and us comparing him to Argento though the movie. We talked about the ending and how it was different in America and James Kline gives his idea for a sequel to Opera also.
